After several hours of intense rainfall, the Government of Yaracuy State activated an immediate contingency plan this Monday, July 20, in the municipality of Veroes, where the ravine of the Quebrada Honda sector overflowed, affecting several sectors, and some trees fell on the road to Guabina.
The Secretary General of the Government of Yaracuy, Lenyis Martínez, reported that operations are primarily concentrated in the El Guayabo sector, with the intervention of security, prevention, public services and social protection commissions.
He indicated that a direct house-to-house approach is carried out to assess material damage, meet the immediate needs of the population and correct the overflow of the riverbed.
Although the overflow of the ravine flooded some communities, it did not cause serious losses or collapsed homes.
Fallen trees prevented traffic to the town of Guabina for hours, so heavy machinery had to be used immediately for removal and restoration of traffic.
Martínez highlighted the technical and preventive work carried out by Civil Protection and the Yaracuy Bonito Foundation, organizations that monitor the channels and provide timely responses to contingencies caused by rains in the state.
“President Delcy Rodríguez and Governor Leonardo Intoci provide all the necessary support to give immediate action to families; here we will remain in full support and action to meet all their needs,” he said.
He added that the evaluation commissions and maintenance teams will continue to be permanently deployed in the Veroes municipality until the normal course of the flooded ravine is restored and the affected communities are guaranteed peace of mind.
