Government of Zulia reopens Punta Perret lighthouse in Castilletes

As part of the celebrations for the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, the Punta Perret Strategic Lighthouse returned to service in Castillete s, where the number 1 border landmark of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is located, on the peninsula of La Guajira in the state of Zulia.

The announcement was made by the government of the state of Zulia, Luis Caldera stressed that this work symbolizes a key step in comprehensive care policies and improves safety and navigation in the Gulf of Venezuela, details a press release.

“The reopening of this lighthouse guarantees navigation, strengthens sovereignty and, above all, ensures the protection of these waters, also promoting interculturality in the region,” he said.

The modernization of the lighthouse was possible thanks to the joint work between the Bolivarian Navy and the regional executive. The works carried out included the installation of cutting-edge lighting systems, optimization of the battery bank, improvements in security systems and the repair of infrastructure, including the construction of a commemorative plaza in honor of Castilletes.
