The governor of the state of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, exalted this Sunday the resignification of Venezuelan democracy with the celebration of the National Popular Consultation 2026.

“This great Popular Consultation gives a new meaning to democracy, to Venezuelan citizens, because it is an election that calls us to vote for those projects that in assembly, communities have prioritized to meet the main needs of the community,” said Terán after participating in the day.

He stressed that each of the projects “fall within the framework of the Plan of the Seven Transformations (...) there are projects in the productive order, projects in the social order, projects that have to do with the sixth transformation, such as recycling, such as caring for the environment, for all the needs of the community”.

“What we are doing today is giving an example to the world of how the concept of democracy in Venezuela has been resigned, rising to a level of direct democracy, popular democracy, true participatory and leading democracy, and this mobilization is already part of the culture of participation of all Venezuelans,” he emphasized.
