This Sunday, March 8, the First National Popular Consultation 2026 takes place, a day in which the state of Sucre participates massively in the entity's 224 communal circuits.
For this electoral process, 421 centers and 508 voting stations were set up, with the purpose of allowing communities to choose projects based on their local needs to be financed, thus seeking to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the region.
The governor of the state of Sucre, Jhoanna Carrillo, said that this consultation is part of the First and Second Transformations of the country, pointing out the importance of citizen participation in financial decision-making.
“This allows us to demonstrate that what is said in the Constitution is expressed in the vote and it is in direct and participatory democracy where the people choose in an extraordinary way how they want resources to be invested,” he added.
For his part, the mayor of the Sucre municipality, Pedro Figueroa, indicated that once again the people of Sucre have proven to be courageous people in this new democratic festival, stating that even in the midst of difficulties the people are still standing.
“Nothing stops us, nothing takes us away from our objectives, today it is up to us to choose in each commune the projects that need to be addressed,” Figueroa said.
More than 8,000 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and citizen security personnel were deployed in the entity to guarantee public order and democratic participation on this day, as well as to guard electoral material and ensure the smooth development of activity at all voting points in the state.
