Grecia Colmenares calls on young people to assert the letter of our Constitution

The Secretary General of Youth of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (JPSUV), Grecia Colmenares, called for asserting the content of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic.

“I call on young people to continue to join, to assert the letter of our national Constitution, which is wonderful and which speaks of participatory and leading democracy; sovereignty resides in the people and today we exercise it precisely with action

During the March for the 20th Anniversary of the Organic Law of Community Councils, Colmenares highlighted that the Venezuelan people exercise their self-determination through communal councils and communes, structures that, after two decades of law in force, are consolidated as spaces for national participation. He pointed out that youth are part of this process through their own voices in the more than 49,000 communal councils and in the country's 5,536 communes.

He indicated that youth participation includes the elaboration of the dream map, the planning of community transformations and the making of decisions on short, medium and long term projects. He stated that these practices derive from a clear precedent: the Law on Communal Councils as the basis of participatory democracy.

Colmenares invited the population to remain permanently incorporated and to exercise the constitutional principles of popular sovereignty.

He stressed that participatory and proactive democracy is expressed in daily action and in community work that promotes educational, social, economic, cultural and sports transformations from every territory.
