The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reported that, based on his analysis, he predicts that during the year 2024 the growth of the Venezuelan economy will exceed 8%.

“ECLAC and the International Monetary Fund project economic growth in the country of 4%, of what they call Gross Domestic Product (...) it is the largest projection in Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said in Bolívar state, where he led a working day dedicated to the economy from the Venezuelan Corporation of Guiana (CVG), at the Caroní Aluminum Conductors Company (HAIR).

However, he said that “we have better news, we have 11 quarters of continuous economic growth. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, growth figures exceed 7%, starting with the year, which are always modest figures.”

In this scenario, he stressed that “the forecast that I made, as a prophet, for the year 2024, is to grow by 8%, I think that this year we are going to break growth records”.

The head of state said that this is possible despite the impact of illegal sanctions against Venezuela, “requested by last name”, particularly on its GDP, estimated at 642 billion dollars, in the period between 2015 and 2021.

“How many houses could we have built besides the ones we already built, how many schools, high schools, universities, hospitals,” he said.

He also noted that in the first quarter of 2024, Venezuela registered the lowest inflation margin in the last 12 years, “and we are going to get better, to absolute control of the inflationary issue with economic growth, exchange rate stability and controlled inflation.”
