The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro, explained this Wednesday the efforts made by the
National Executive to guarantee an increase in salaries for workers, retirees
and pensioners in the country.
During the broadcast of episode number 5 of the Maduro
Podcast, the head of state explained that the increase in the minimum wage exceeds
600% in the last 9 months, for public sector workers,
while for retirees and pensioners it is more than 300%.
He pointed out that this comes “from work, from effort, from savings,
from efficiency, because it's very easy to manage in abundance. Do you know what brave
is? Managing in the midst of a war (...) And we have succeeded, we are
succeeding, we know how to do it and we will continue to do it no matter what the
last names say, whatever the United States government says,” he emphasized.
He stressed that the new salary will be indexed, “we are
overcoming the strategy that we used when we launched the Petro medium”, which
they attacked “with prices and mark-up (...) that's enough, we're on the right track.
We have created our own formulas to keep moving forward.”
