Venezuela and Japan will face each other in a sudden death match corresponding to the Quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic, on Saturday, March 14, at 8 p.m., at LoanDepot park in Miami.

The pitching match will be led by the Criollos, with their starter Ranger Suárez and the ninth Japanese player, Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

The Criollos placed second in Group D with 3 victories (Netherlands 6-2, Israel 11-3 and Nicaragua 4-0) and a loss to the Dominican Republic (7-5).

For its part, Japan, which was part of group C, finished undefeated, after beating Chinese Taipei 13-0, Korea 8-6, Australia 4-3 and Czechia 9-0.

Venezuela wants to return to the semifinals, an instance where it hasn't come unexpectedly since 2009.

Meanwhile, Japan wants to become two-time champion and add another title to the three won, to consolidate itself as the country with the most titles in that competition.
