Héctor Rodríguez: This new school year we will include the figure of trainers in high schools

For the 2025 - 2026 school year, the figure of trainers is incorporated into the country's high schools, who will be the students with the best averages who will support their classmates in the study of certain subjects, said Education Minister Héctor Rodríguez.

“They don't come to replace teachers, it's rather an opportunity for our young people to fall in love with the teaching profession and many of them decide to study this career,” he said during a meeting with state directors to refine details about the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

In addition, according to a press release from the Education portfolio, he recalled that extracurricular activities are kept on the educational agenda to encourage children and young people to exploit their concerns and abilities with the arts, science and sports. In this regard, it ratified the celebration of the student theater festival with the support of the César Rengifo Movement, a new edition of the National Student Sports Games, the science Olympics, the increase of Scientific Seedbeds, among other activities.

From September 9 to 12, the minister said, teachers will have a special training day based on the academic programs that are currently under consultation: Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Identity (History, Geography, Citizenship) and Language Practices (formerly Spanish).

On the other hand, Rodríguez mentioned that the school calendar is 200 days long and urged regional directors to “enforce it” so that students have their contents complete.

“Education must be for everyone, not exclusive; it must protect our children and young people, and it must also be of quality, so that the boy really learns,” he stressed.
