ICLAM announces 12 beaches suitable for carnival holidays in Zulia

The Institute for the Control and Conservation of the Lake Maracaibo Basin (ICLAM) announced 12 suitable beaches in the state of Zulia for the enjoyment of the 2026 Carnival season.

The suitable beaches are located in seven towns in the Guajira subregion and on the East Coast of the Lake. On the Guajira axis, seasonal workers can enjoy Caimare Chico, located in the Guajira municipality; San Carlos, Cachito and La Almeja, in Almirante Padilla and San Remo, Las Mercedes and Bonita, in Mara. On the Eastern Shore of the Lake, the suitable ones are Ancón de Iturre, in the Miranda municipality; Isla de Providencia and El Rosario, in Santa Rita; Cabimas, in the municipality with the same name, and Los Pocitos in the coastal town Simón Bolívar

According to an ICLAM report of 21 spas evaluated in 12 jurisdictions located in the Maracaibo Lake Basin, with a dozen of them having been authorized. The evaluations are part of the national process of categorizing beaches as suitable and not suitable for enjoyment during the 2026 Carnival season. The analyses included physicochemical and bacteriological parameters, also allowing the generation of relevant scientific data that contribute to the formulation of public policies in accordance with the Master Plan for the Rescue, Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Lake Maracaibo Basin.
