This Sunday, March 15, the Archdiocese of Caracas marked the formal beginning of Holy Week 2026 with the descent of the Nazarene of Saint Paul in the Basilica of Saint Teresa, where the parishioners gathered to join this tradition

For this liturgical cycle, a body of 110 porters will assume the responsibility of carrying the religious image on their shoulders during the traditional Holy Wednesday procession, scheduled for April 1.

Given the magnitude of the call, church authorities urged devotees to maintain civil and preventive behavior.

They also recommended that during these activities they remember to carry water, light food, maintain permanent physical contact with children and strictly monitor the lighting of candles to avoid flammable incidents inside the temple.

In addition, he asked the audience to avoid forced crowds and to report any eventuality to the security forces present.
