Commercial operations in the Ezequiel Zamora I Central Railway System, Cua-Caracas section, were re-established, after partially overcoming the electrical fault caused by the breakage of a catenary cable, this Friday morning.
As reported by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the incident occurred at 11:00am due to the explosion in the power supply system. Faced with the contingency, the staff of the State Railroad Institute (IFE) applied safety protocols and completed the preventive eviction of 181 users at the stations of the Valles del Tuy without registering injured people.
While the repairs were being carried out, the transfer operated on a reduced basis only from Caracas to Charallave Norte. In this regard, a contingent of 150 technicians from the electrification and signalling areas were deployed on the railway to correct the fault.
The president of the IFE, Claudio Farías, directly supervised the work and reported that the circulation of trains resumed on track number one, with an estimated waiting time on the platforms of 20 minutes.
