President Rodríguez signed into law approving the establishment of the International Alliance of Big Cats

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, enacted this Saturday the Law Approving the Framework Agreement for the Establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA).
During the signing of the agreement with the Vantara Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Rehabilitation Center of the Republic of India, the president signed the legal instrument, approved by the National Assembly on August 27, with the purpose of providing a legal framework for the preservation of wild feline life of specimens such as the jaguar and the leopard.
This Law promotes the conservation of global biodiversity, focusing on seven species threatened by economic exploitation, so Venezuela strongly supports this international initiative thanks to its vast biological wealth, as it is the habitat of six of the 41 species of felines that exist on the planet (approximately 14% of the world total).
In addition, it seeks to protect the felines that inhabit Venezuelan territory such as the jaguar, the puma, the cunaguaro, the margay, the ounce and the oncilla, highlighting the presence of key populations such as the jaguar (Panthera onca), distributed in the Amazon and Esequiba Guiana.
