In Ecuador, state security forces arrest leaders of the criminal group Los Gánster

After more than a week of armed violence in Ecuador between paramilitary groups and criminal gangs against the State Security Corps and the Army, the government of that country announces that in the midst of operations carried out as part of the 60-day state of emergency and the declaration of internal armed conflict in Ecuador, two people identified as ringleaders of the criminal gang Los Gánster were arrested.

The capture of Sebastián M., alias “La S” and another terrorist member of the Gangsters, occurred in the Ecuadorian province of Esmeraldas, the Ecuadorian Armed Forces corps reported.

These arrests occurred in the midst of a series of violent acts recorded throughout the country, which have left more than 14 dead and 170 people hostage in different Ecuadorian jails.
