Iran accused the US of hindering its diplomatic work at the UN

This Wednesday, it became known that the United States (US) government imposed new restrictions on the movements and purchasing activities of diplomats from the Islamic Republic of Iran who reside or are visiting New York City, specifically at the headquarters of the United Nations (UN).

Iranian representatives have reported that the “systematic harassment” by the United States government of Iranian diplomats had prevented Iranian delegates from attending several multilateral events held outside the supposed “allowed parameters” during this week alone. “The real objective is to disrupt the diplomatic performance of the Persian country before the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

The measure is another step in the White House offensive on visas, even for leaders and diplomats seeking to serve as representatives at the United Nations. Also, the Washington authorities revoked the visas of 80 Palestinian officials, including the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas, preventing them from attending the debate.
