The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, announced that the Bolivarian Government is responding to 1,557 requests for the release of prisoners, which are being processed immediately and permanently, following the recent approval of the Amnesty Law.
“Until yesterday, we had 405 requests from people deprived of their liberty. As of today, there have been 1,152 requests. In total, 1,557 that are being treated immediately,” Rodríguez said.
In addition, the lifting of alternative measures to deprivation of liberty, which were applied to 11,000 people, including bringing them to court and house arrest, are being addressed.
“Those of us who believe in dialogue for peacebuilding are the contribution where peace is lasting, where we all respect each other, where we can discuss differences in all spheres without resorting to hate, to polarization,” he said.
Rodríguez then reported that “the lapses are immediate”; and that requests and releases occur in “real time”, however; he also recalled that the regulations also provide for recognition and care for victims of political violence. .
