La Chinita International Airport suffered no structural damage and maintains active operations

La Chinita International Airport, in Maracaibo, Zulia state, has increased its operations as work has been carried out to rehabilitate spaces for domestic and international flights.

The governor of the entity, Luis Caldera, explained that he supervised this terminal to verify total operational normality and the progress of modernization works in this important air terminal in the country.

During the tour of the facilities, any type of structural faults were ruled out both in the runway and in the control tower and its adjacent spaces, in order to ensure the safety and stability of the airport's infrastructure.

The recovery works have included air conditioning systems, sanitary rooms, airline desks, lighting, painting, ornamentation and parking lots at the air terminal, according to a report from the Government of Zulia.

To date, La Chinita operates 20 domestic flights daily and one international flight to Panama City.

Due to the contingency created by the earthquakes and the temporary closure of Simón Bolívar Airport in Maiquetía, special flights have been enabled from La Chinita to Valencia, Barcelona and Barquisimeto to guarantee mobility throughout the country.

In accordance with the restoration and modernization of the spaces in the air terminal, they are continuing.

Expecting a progressive increase in mobility, the National Government, through the Ministry of Popular Power for Transport, Bolivarian Airports (BAER) and the Government of Zulia, are optimizing the pavement of Manuel Belloso Avenue, which connects the urban center of the Zulian capital with the terminal.

These are the 22 kilometers that go from the Caujarito distributor to the entrance to La Chinita. 24,000 tons of hot type three asphalt are being placed.

The work includes comprehensive signage and demarcation work, which are essential for improving passability and public safety.
