La Guaira finalized 21 trade agreements at the First Business Roundtable for the fishing sector

The direct connection between the fishing village and the business sector is beginning to open new paths for the commercialization of fish production in the state of La Guaira, as demonstrated during the First Business Conference of the Fishing Sector “Venezuela Eats Fish of La Guaira”, in which representatives of 25 Councils of the Popular Power of Fishermen and Fishermen (CONPPA) from the eastern, central and western axes of the entity concluded 21 commercial agreements, equivalent to 103,320 kilos of fish per month.

The meeting, according to the website of the Ministry of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, was held at the Seafood Caribbean LLC Processing Plant, in Caraballeda, which brought together more than 80 fishermen and 22 companies that formalized commercial agreements, in a conference organized by seven negotiating tables.

The agreements reached cover the commercialization of fresh, frozen and processed products, creating new channels for placing the catch and strengthening the connection between those who produce and the companies responsible for processing and marketing fish protein.

Beyond finalizing deals, the day allowed the establishment of a dynamic of permanent communication between fishermen and companies, with the purpose of facilitating the exchange of information on the species and volumes available. In addition to responding in a more timely manner to market needs.

Regarding the activity, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, stressed that this articulation seeks to ensure that the growth of fishing activity has a direct impact on the income of sea workers and, at the same time, strengthens the capacities of processing plants.

“Today we want the fisherman's economic base to obtain better income and for processing plants to be strengthened for export,” he said.

The business round also made it possible to show the productive potential of La Guaira, an entity that has more than 130 marine species, as well as the progress of initiatives such as the CONPPA Brand and the national Weaving Networks program, which incorporate transformation processes and added value to production.

This momentum is taking place in a context of growth in Guairian fishing activity, which registered a 50% increase in catch compared to the previous year, strengthening the conditions for expanding marketing and creating new opportunities for the sector.

With these 21 trade agreements, La Guaira is making progress in building a new commercial ecosystem for its fishing sector, articulating CONPPA, fishermen and companies so that marine production has greater opportunities to reach the market and contributes to the economic rebirth of the entity.
