On November 1, 1961, Livia Margarita Gouverneur was assassinated by the police suppressing puntofixism, a bullet blinded the life of the psychology student, remembered as the “Red Virgin of Students”, becoming the first communist militant to be killed by officials of the Fourth Republic.

Livia was born in the parish of San Agustín, on July 14, 1941. She was the oldest of 11 siblings, with a raspy and strong voice, she loved to ride motorcycles, organize and train Yaracuyan peasants, do theater, and she worked together with Hugo José Balzán, César Rengifo and Oswaldo Orsini.

Hours before his murder, his mother, Doña Lola, worried about the suspension of constitutional guarantees, asked him to take care of the adecos: “Look, Betancourt said that you have to shoot first and then they find out (...) what you're looking for is not to let you go”, and to this statement Livia replies: “I'm running away! Besides, I die defending a cause.”

Today, the Venezuelan people praise Livia's struggle, guarding her contribution with the firm conviction that revenge against her murderers will continue to build the path to National Liberation, forming the real material bases that enable the irreversibility of the construction of the Socialist Homeland.
