The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, criticized the statements of former magistrates who assert that there will be reprisals against those who use the 0800-Matraca line, once activated by the president in charge, for which he stated that these voices come from structures linked to irregular practices within the judicial system.

“Those former magistrates have surely been from the judicial tribes of this country, of the matraqueros, they are the main matraqueros who, with justice, have made life impossible for the people of Venezuela,” he said, defending the activation of the complaints mechanism.

Cabello said that the telephone channel will allow direct reports from citizens and stated that Popular Power will be decisive in this process, however, he warned that each case will be rigorously evaluated. “The people will make the complaints and they will be treated with great responsibility, because sometimes these things are used to profile or accuse without evidence,” he said, insisting that the system is designed to work with transparency.

The leader recalled that during his administration in the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, disciplinary measures have been carried out resulting from citizen complaints, so he specified that the number of police officers separated from their positions is greater than that initially reported. “I said that there were 22,000 police officers discharged, not 22,000, they are 28,000 in these two years because of complaints made by the People,” he said, stressing that these actions seek to support the security forces that carry out their work.

Cabello reiterated that institutional cleansing responds to the need to strengthen police work and highlighted the functioning of the Peace Quadrants in coordination with the communes. “This is being done because there are very good police officers who work tirelessly and are honest with the people, the best proof is how peace quadrants work with popular power,” he said, assuring that community participation is key to consolidating results.
