- On November 1, 1961, Livia Margarita Gouverneur Camero stood out, along with her colleagues from the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), in the demonstrations in favor of the Cuban Revolution and in the protest against the presence of hundreds of baptistery agents in the country.
- Livia was shot in the back by these agents of the Cuban worm farm, from the La Hogareña farm, in the Las Acacias sector.
- In Caracas, there were 14 headquarters from which baptistery groups operated. Initially, they were brought in and financed by the Government of Rómulo Betancourt to do the dirty work of repression against students and leaders of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV).
- Some of these headquarters were located in several farms: La Hogareña, in Las Acacias; Quinta Maicara, in Sabana Grande; Quinta Magda, in San Bernardino; Quinta No. 13 in San Bernardino; Quinta Antillana in El Paraíso; Quinta Hilda, in Sabana Grande; two residences located in Los Chorros; and one in the Residential Pension, located in Peligro a Pele El Ojo, in La Candelaria.
- The killers of Livia Gouverneur had been trained by the CIA and placed under the command of Carlos A. Pérez as “political exiles”. In reality, these were the criminal gangs of the ousted dictator Fulgencio Batista, who maintained control of prostitution, illegal gambling, drug trafficking, repression and organized crime in Cuba.
- After learning about the murder of Livia Gouverneur, the revolutionary jurist Humberto Cuenca immortalized her as “The Red Virgin”, an epithet that has been perpetuated to describe the spirit of struggle and the courage she always demonstrated in favor of social justice in Venezuela.
- Context:

- For more than three decades, Batisteros, Worms, Digepoles and Dissipoles planted crimes, torture and forced disappearances in Venezuela.
- Livia, The Red Virgin, was one of the first victims of these thugs.
- She was born on July 14, 1940, the eldest of seven siblings, the daughter of Lola Camero de Gouverneur and César Gouverneur, both farmers from the Easter Valley, Guárico state.
