During a rally held in Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, the deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Nicolás Maduro Guerra, stated that the country continues to mobilize to demand the release of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped on January 3.

“Today Venezuela raises its voice for truth to the world, because no power can silence a people that defends their dignity,” he said.

Maduro Guerra pointed out that the day is part of a sustained battle for truth and justice, which began, he said, since the time when Commander Hugo Chávez toured the streets to build the Bolivarian project.

He indicated that Venezuela and various peoples of the world are rising up to defend the truth in the face of media narratives that seek to impose remote versions of the events.

“The trial that today (President Maduro's hearing) is intended to hold is illegitimate in its origin. This mobilization is not only to accompany an audience, but to raise the voice of truth, so that the people of Venezuela demand justice, peace and the right to build their own model without being identified as criminal,” he said.

The deputy said that the Venezuelan people are made up of women, young people, workers, grandparents and grandmothers who defend their dignity. “We are decent, hardworking people. We are not criminals. That's why let's raise our voices and seep in the truth, because the truth always finds a way, like the light that shines even in the dark,” he added.

He also reiterated the call for freedom of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, stressing that the strength of the people remains firm. “Here is the people's harvest of conscience in the street, demanding sovereignty, peace, independence and the right not to be a colony,” he said.

The parliamentarian thanked the international social movements that have expressed solidarity with Venezuela, with President Maduro and Cilia Flores for their support.

He mentioned the support received from Canada, New York, Mexico, Central and South America and various European nations such as Italy, Germany and Türkiye, as well as from Iran and other peoples who have expressed support. “Venezuela is firm, it is standing. The Bolivarian Revolution is in charge here, and with the truth of the peoples, with the facts and with God ahead of us, we are going to emerge victorious,” he concluded.
