Mayor Meléndez: Bolivarian doctrine is not theory, it is action on the ground to protect our people

The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, recalled Simón Bolívar's legacy on July 24 during the commemoration of his birth, so she linked her thinking to the work being carried out in the city one month after the earthquake that hit the capital.

Meléndez noted that the date invites us to resume the unity and perseverance that Bolívar promoted in times of difficulty and cited one of his teachings to highlight the importance of maintaining discipline in the recovery of communities. “As Bolívar said: patience and more patience, perseverance and more perseverance, work and more work to have a homeland,” he said.

The mayor indicated that these words guide daily work in areas hit by the earthquake and maintained that Bolivarian doctrine is expressed in concrete actions to accompany the population. “We demonstrated that Bolivarian doctrine is not theory, it is action on the ground to protect our people and lift up the city,” he said.

Meléndez reaffirmed that the work will continue in each affected community and concluded his speech with a message of commitment. “We are moving forward,” he said.
