In the framework of the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the enactment of the Organic Law of Community Councils, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, confirmed that direct and leading democracy is the route established by the National Executive for the recovery of the welfare state in the country and the People's Power is the guarantor of social welfare in the face of sanctions.

During a massive rally from Caracas, the Mayor celebrated the two decades of validity of the Organic Law of the Communal Councils, which empowered the rank and file, calling it the backbone of the Revolution.

Meléndez highlighted the resilience of the Venezuelan people to unilateral coercive measures. “Sanctions are a reality that we have all suffered without distinction of political color. For this reason, President Nicolás Maduro's message has always been one of unity, of dialogue between all sectors to improve the future of our country,” he said.

Melendez emphasized the importance of the recently announced Presidential Commission, which integrates the Bolivarian Government, private enterprise and the working class in a joint effort for economic development.

He also announced the start of a national pilgrimage that will begin on April 19 and will travel across the country until May 1, Labor Day, to collect proposals from the country's workers.
