Mayor Meléndez: Plan Venezuela Renace has 171 active work fronts in Caracas

The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, reported that at the Command Post in the capital city, a balance was made of the Venezuela Renace Plan, for which a total of 171 work fronts are active.

Through his account on the social network Instagram, in several messages, he specified that in the 22 parishes “we have brigades ready to attend to buildings and spaces that were affected by the seismic activity of June 24. Currently, we have a total of 171 active work fronts, reconstructing buildings, educational centers and public spaces, and in San Bernardino there are 29 brigades that are tackling these works.”

In this regard, he pointed out that in San Bernardino, “we have 29 fronts to date, in Sucre 27, on January 23, 18, in San Pedro 13, Santa Teresa 13, and so on in all the territories. The entities of the Mayor's Office of Caracas work daily together with the Community Reconstruction Brigades and the government institutions that serve public services, in a single effort.”

Meléndez stated that “our brigades began the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Imperial building, in the San Bernardino parish.”

“We thus inspected the first works we are carrying out on this building through the Venezuela Renace Plan, which consist of the rehabilitation of external and internal walls, as well as stairs, façade and ground floor, as well as attention to several apartments that were affected by the seismic activity of June 24,” he said.

He also mentioned the Miravalle building, in the San Bernardino parish, “we are making 90% progress in its reconstruction, after the damage it suffered by the earthquakes of June 24.”

He explained that “here we concluded the critical stages of demolition and structural adaptation, from the ground floor to the penthouse, and currently our front of work is focused on the finishing, masonry and cladding phase of the façade”.

“This is achieved through work at height, with restoration in addition to the parasols and the reinforcement of the engine room on the roof; in addition, the slab with demarcation has been emptied in the common areas of the parking lot,” he said.

The mayor also indicated that “the works reach the perimeter sidewalk of Los Próceres Avenue and a stretch of Marqués del Toro Avenue. With the blessings and beautiful words of the neighbors, we are moving forward.”

He stressed that the reconstruction work of Residencias Arboleda, in San Bernardino, reached 100%, and he supervised the finishing of this work, which covered 10 floors and an equal number of rehabilitated houses.

“The building, located on Avenida Los Próceres and dating back to 1963, was certified in yellow and has been worked with our Heroes of Blue brigades, through the Venezuela Renace Plan. Among the tasks that were necessary are: the lining of the pump room on the ground floor, painting the perimeter wall, as well as mounting lamps in different areas,” he said.

He added that “also, the internal walls of the apartments were painted, the ceramics were installed, and general cleaning was carried out, among other works”.

“We continue to accompany families to recover their homes, affected as a result of the earthquakes of last June 24,” he emphasized.
