This Wednesday, personnel from the National Public Health System carried out an extraordinary surgical day at Hospital II San José de Tovar in the state of Mérida, aimed at providing comprehensive pediatric and outpatient surgical care for the population of the Tovar municipality and adjacent areas of the Mocotí axis, where a total of 84 surgical procedures were guaranteed.
The Single Health Authority of the state of Mérida, Moraima Salazar, highlighted the impact of this deployment, which seeks to decentralize surgical medical services and guarantee the well-being of children and adults in each of the state's territorial axes. “We are increasingly strengthening surgical capacity in our territorial axes to provide timely and quality care to our children and to the entire adult population of our state,” said Salazar, from the surgical area of the healthcare center.
According to a press release, during the activity, the operational dynamics of the hospital's second operating room were reactivated, a space intended for outpatient and dermatological surgery, where low-complexity surgeries were performed on lipomas, nevus, acrocords, skin lesions, cysts and hernias.
In addition, the Single Authority highlighted that the articulation of these actions with the Oncological Route will allow timely screening of neoplasms and address dermatological conditions that require direct surgical solution or a more precise diagnosis.
