The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello, said that there was no conflict in the Morrocoy National Park, but rather “a necessary conversation” to improve the management of the destination in the face of the increase in visitors.
Through her Instagram account, Cabello explained that when a destination reaches high occupancy levels, organization, agreements and vision are required, stressing that this process is sometimes not comfortable, but it is essential to ensure the proper functioning of tourist spaces.
“In Morrocoy National Park there was no conflict, there was a necessary conversation, when a destination is full you need organization, agreements and vision; and that's not always comfortable, but it's the right thing to do,” he confirmed.
In this regard, he stressed that sustainable tourism goes beyond actions such as waste collection. “Sustainable tourism is understanding that this is a system: visitors, communities providing services and nature; if you fail everything falls, if everything works the country grows,” he explained.
He also emphasized that for this growth it is necessary to talk, adjust and correct for the benefit of the country's development.
The minister stressed that destinations such as Morrocoy, Margarita, Los Roques and Mochima maintain a high influx, while other regions such as Canaima, Aragua, Mérida and Anzoátegui also register dynamism, reflecting economic activity and mobility
In view of this, he emphasized that the challenge is to optimize management to avoid saturation and strengthen the country's tourism development. “We're not here to argue, we're here to raise the bar,” he said.
