The Minister of Popular Power for Health, Nuramy Gutiérrez, this Tuesday, March 10, referring to the benefits provided by the Red Cross Law to the Venezuelan People, highlighted its impact on humanitarian cooperation and the legal framework that governs its operation in the country.
During his participation in the program A Pulso, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he explained that the central objective of this regulation is to regulate the way in which this international organization provides support to the National Public Health System (SPNS) and to the bodies of the Ministry of Popular Power for Defense (MPPD), fundamental support for dealing with conjunctural situations, whether natural disasters or events of any kind another nature.
Gutiérrez recalled that the Red Cross has a global presence with an essentially humanitarian and relief mission, especially in the face of war conflicts or catastrophes. “They accompany the attention of people at that time,” he said.
The minister was emphatic in clarifying that the nature of the organization is strictly technical and humanitarian, unrelated to partisan interests. “The Red Cross is not linked to any political party. They should not be and are not, and the law, of course, does not contemplate it,” he said.
“The law regulates their relationship with the Venezuelan State and how they maintain their international structure as they do in most countries. It is a way to improve the relations of this international body that has a presence in Venezuela, but also in other countries,” he stressed.
He also indicated that this legal framework is part of the vision of Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, which allows Venezuela to strengthen its ties with other nations that also have the presence of this international organization.
