This Sunday, March 15, the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, highlighted the election of more than 36,000 spokespersons and spokespersons in the 15,543 peasant councils constituted throughout the country.

“We had an extraordinary day to complete all that is the organizational phase for the election of peasant spokespersons by category; more than 36,000 spokespersons elected in the 15,543 peasant councils,” he said from the Venezuelan School of Planning, located in the La Rinconada sector of Caracas.

He also stressed that this organizational process seeks to strengthen the structure of the peasant movement and consolidate the participation of the rural sector in decision-making related to agricultural production.

He took advantage of the space to highlight that peasants have made a commitment to increasing domestic production with the objective of advancing import substitution.

Heredia added that the sector continues to work to build a productive Concrete Agenda for Action (ACA), aimed at identifying the main needs of the peasantry and boosting the country's agricultural development.
