The Minister of Popular Power for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro, reported that during Operation Holy Week, more than 57,000 recreational, sports and training activities were carried out in the national territory, with the active participation of youth volunteering.
“More than 57,000 activities across the country were carried out and fill us with satisfaction. It fills us with satisfaction because we saw the family united, the children united, and most importantly: we saw our people in peace,” he said.
Lotartaro explained that these actions are coordinated through the Bureau of Good Living, an instance where the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, and allied organizations such as the People's Guard converge.
“We have a table called the Mesa del Buen Vivir, where these institutions are involved and we carry out activities throughout the national territory. Volunteering is 100% active, providing recreation and also sports activities such as soccer, basketball, yoyo and parrots, among others,” he said.
The minister stressed that the deployment included training actions, especially aimed at boys and girls.
“We do our homework with the children taking advantage of the spaces where we are. We have teachers who accompany these days and allow us to advance educational activities,” he said.
