Ministers of Venezuela and Colombia activate working groups on security, trade and energy

This Friday afternoon, ministers from Venezuela and Colombia set up four high-level working tables at the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.
Their objective is to strengthen diplomatic ties, framed in Peace Diplomacy, to address fundamental issues in the areas of foreign relations, security and defense, trade and tourism; and energy and oil, in search of the benefit of both nations.
In the area of security and defense, the ministers of Venezuela and Colombia, Vladimir Padrino López and Pedro Sánchez Suárez, respectively, coordinated strategies for the more than 2,200 kilometers of shared border.
At the foreign relations table, the foreign ministers of both nations, Yván Gil and Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, worked on a road map that prioritizes brotherhood and peaceful coexistence between the two countries.
For its part, the trade and tourism board highlighted binational economic growth, which reached 1,170 million dollars in 2025, 4.1% more than the previous year. Meanwhile, Venezuelan ministers Daniela Cabello and Luis Villegas, together with Colombian authorities, evaluated projects to promote commercial exchange and tourist flow during this year.
In the area of energy and oil, the alliance between Petrleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and ECOPETROL for the supply of Venezuelan gas to Colombia was ratified. The representatives of the electrical and petrochemical areas of both towns participated in this table.
