The head of the Biological Diversity division of the Ministry of Popular Power of Ecosocialism (MINEC) in Aragua, Armando Machado, reported the development of a day on rescue and protection of wildlife that is being carried out in parallel with the fight against forest fires in the Henri Pittier National Park.

Machado described the accidents as an environmental crisis that dramatically alters the ecosystem in very short periods, directly affecting the species that make life in the plant's lungs. He explained that, while larger animals such as deer or birds manage to flee the flames, the most vulnerable species, including turtles and snakes, suffer the greatest impact because they cannot move quickly, details a local press release.

As part of the fourth day of operations of Plan Llovizna, the official stressed that the mitigation protocol includes the immediate rescue of specimens found burned, injured or disoriented. To ensure their recovery, a strategic alliance has been established with off-site conservation centers.

To date, more than five different species have been protected, including foxes, macaws and birds of prey. The authorities emphasized that the number of attendances is constantly growing as security teams and park rangers make progress in total fire control. Faced with the possibility that wildlife specimens may seek refuge in residential areas close to the national park, the MINEC representative called on the community not to attempt to manipulate the animals on their own.
