The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello, held a meeting this Friday, June 19, with representatives of the CAF —Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean— in Venezuela.
The objective was to explore opportunities for cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, infrastructure, training and tourism promotion for the nation.
The meeting was attended by Xavier Prieto, Ángel Cárdenas and Natalie Martínez, on behalf of the multilateral organization, as well as the Deputy Ministers of National and International Tourism and Tourism Projects and Works.
This agenda responds to the guidelines of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to articulate dialogue with local actors and international organizations, as reported in a press release.
During the session, the head of the tourism portfolio highlighted the “Vive Frontera” Project, an initiative that seeks to boost commercial, cultural and tourist exchange between Venezuela and Colombia.
The plan contemplates an increase in the flow of Colombian travelers through the binational route “El Libertador”, boosting employment and competitiveness in the sector.
As part of the meeting, the director of CAF, Xavier Prieto, officially announced that Venezuela will assume the presidency of the institution's Board of Directors for the period 2027.
For his part, Cabello valued the announcement positively, noting that it represents an opportunity to lead and consolidate strategic projects for the benefit of national development.
CAF's tourism strategy aims to bring together public and private investments to value biodiversity and ancient knowledge. With this recognition, the Venezuelan State reaffirms its commitment to multilateral cooperation as a tool to transform economic and social realities in the region.
