Mirandinos Juan Sánchez and Daniela Suárez led the 5 and 10 k open water qualifiers for the Nationals

The Mirandino swimmers Juan Sánchez and Daniela Suárez commanded the qualifying events of 5 and 10 kilometers of open water for the National Youth Games, in the bay of the Agustín Armario Naval Base in Puerto Cabello, in the state of Carabobo.
The qualifying match was attended by 160 athletes from various categories from Amazonas, Anzoátegui, Aragua, Caracas, Carabobo, Cojedes, Guárico, Lara, Miranda, Monagas, Portuguesa, Táchira, Trujillo and Yaracuy.
The match awarded two places to the best swimmers by state placed in the final standings of both events.
In the men's 10 km race, Juan Sánchez demonstrated his supremacy by winning with a time of 1:59:13 in a close final that was defined by a touch against his teammate Santiago Bello, who stopped the stopwatch at 1:59:15.
The podium was also completed by Juan Gómez from Miranda with a record of 1:59:17.
Representative of the Portuguese Central Club, Sánchez confirmed his great performance by conquering the 5 km race with a time of 1:00:30, followed very closely by Juan Gómez with 1:00:35. The third ranking was left to the Mirandino Santiago Bello with a mark of 1:01:26.
In women's category, the Mirandina Daniela Suárez extended the dominance of her state in the 10 km race and the second position was occupied by the Bolivarian Victoria Rodríguez with a time of 1:11.55, followed by the also Mirandina Camila Bello with a record of 2:20:03.
In the same way, Suárez claimed the gold medal in the distance of 5 km, with a record of 1:08:28, where he relegated Bolivarense Dagne Carvajal and Victoria Rodríguez to second and third position with a time of 1:11:54 and 1:12:55 respectively.
