In the facilities of the La Guaricha Zoological Park in the city of Maturín, Monagas state, the fourth edition of the Cuajao Festival 2026 was held with the participation of 36 people, who presented their dishes to highlight gastronomic culture and traditions during Holy Week.
According to
information from Venezolana de Televisión, the event was attended by the
governor of the entity, Ernesto Luna, who highlighted the importance of
protecting this recipe, which was declared Gastronomic Cultural Heritage of
Maturín, according to the agreement of the Municipal Council of the town number 342026.
“In the name of
our Bolivarian Government, led by the president in charge of Venezuela,
Delcy Rodríguez, of the Government of Monagas State, of the Mayor's Office of
Maturín, of the Municipal Council and of the entire team, we are
declaring this maturinés curd, as the gastronomic cultural heritage of the Maturín municipality, in its multiple and complex forms of traditional preparation.
These traditions must continue to be cultivated, because they are part of our
heritage and our identity,” he said.
Luna also
took the opportunity to recall that, during this Holy Week holiday, security
is guaranteed throughout the Monaguense territory with a
deployment of personnel, belonging to the state's citizen security agencies, who visit all
the resorts and tourist areas of the entity.
As is
customary at this festival, special attention was paid to the companions:
from the classic rice with beans, peas or caraotas, to the essential fried
plantain and cassava; of course, without leaving aside the typical sweets of this time of year.
