The Ministry of People's Power for Electric Energy (MPPEE) and the agri-food sector join efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change on the electricity system.
The working day was led by the sectoral vice-president of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez, together with the Minister of People's Power for Electric Energy, Rolando Alcalá, the Minister of the People's Power for Industry and National Commerce, Luis Villegas, and the Executive President of CAVIDEA, Juvenal Arveláez, in order to establish the central axes of a technical support plan for the productive sector.
“I want to celebrate that we are all gathered here, we as a State and you as the productive and private sector of the country, all in search of a single objective, which is to work for the well-being of our country and that, in addition, the economic system, the productive system advances and we achieve the objectives to guarantee the well-being and food security of our people,” said Alcalá, press review by the Ministry of Electric Energy.
He also explained that, as a result of the climate phenomenon currently being experienced by Venezuela, the demand for electricity service has increased in recent days, according to
“The sun's rays are hitting the Venezuelan territory perpendicularly and this results in a significant increase in temperature and, therefore, a significant increase in demand for electricity service in recent weeks. In addition to this, forest fires have been generated that have affected transmission systems,” Alcalá argued.
The Minister also called on agro-industrial entrepreneurs to join the self-generation of energy with the objective of reducing existing overload and the impact of the consequences of this type of climate phenomenon.
In this context, it ratified the commitment maintained by the National Government to strengthen the National Electricity System (SEN). “As Minister of Electric Energy, I am committed to lifting the National Electricity System and optimizing it so that it can efficiently meet the demand of both the residential and industrial sectors of the country,” he stressed.
