NAPOLEON RODRÍGUEZ MIRALLES “EL TURRO” ASSASSINATED AND DISAPPEARED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF RAÚL LEONI

- 58 years ago, on June 22, 1967, during the Government of Raúl Leoni, the young Napoleon Rodríguez Miralles “El Turro” was kidnapped, tortured and disappeared.
- That year of 1967, faced with the urgent need to have surgery for a hernia, he was taken down the mountain to the City of Caracas to undergo a surgical operation.
- On June 22, 1967, he was kidnapped in the residential area of Coche, by agents of the dark squads of the Armed Forces Intelligence Service (SIFA).
- It was later transferred to the Anti-Guerrilla Operations Theater No. 5 (TO-5), in Yumare, edo. Yaracuy.
- There he was admitted to the torture cell known as the “truth chamber”, from where the only way to get out alive was to betray his companions and move on to the enemy.
- El Turro kept his silence, suffered the torment of torture and chose to die irreducibly, rather than betray his comrades.
- On the verge of death, he was bayoneted by his tormentors. Since then, his body has been missing because of the Government of Raúl Leoni. He was 27 years old at the time of his murder.
- Napoleón Rodríguez Miralles was born in Las Mercedes del Llano, edo. Guárico. In 1963, he joined the José Leonardo Chirino Guerrilla Front (FGJLCh) and then the Simon Bolivar Front, where he became one of the most experienced officers in the Guerrilla War.
- In 1965, he was sent by the Communist Party to Cuba to carry out political and military training and training courses. Upon returning to Venezuela, he joined the guerrillas again.
