New Balance highlights direct care for 86,794 families

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, presented this Sunday, July 5, through his official Telegram channel, a new consolidated balance sheet on the material and human impacts recorded in the country after the seismic emergency that began last June 24.

The institutional report reveals that the number of people killed amounted to 3,342, while those injured reached a total of 16,740 citizens in the affected regions. This detailed report reflects the magnitude of the geological event, which to date has accumulated a total of 995 aftershocks that have conditioned civil evaluation efforts in the national territory.

In addition, the parliamentarian explains a complex infrastructure situation that includes a record of 856 affected buildings and 190 buildings completely collapsed due to recurrent earthquakes. Faced with this adverse housing scenario, the authorities reported that a total of 17,345 people are currently homeless, which prompted the immediate establishment of 79 temporary camps to ensure the safe protection of affected families. In the same way, the security and rescue commissions were able to successfully carry out the rescue of 6,462 citizens in highly vulnerable perimeters.

In the area of humanitarian assistance and public health, published data confirm the direct care of 86,794 families through the various social contingency programs deployed by the Venezuelan State. Emergency medical services have provided medical and psychological assistance to a total of 23,820 patients both in the hospital network and in campaign centers. In addition, central logistics has guaranteed the supply of essential resources to vulnerable communities through the distribution of 9,585 tons of food and a volume of 669,008 liters of drinking water.

The balance sheet highlights the massive civil and military operational deployment in the field, which has the active participation of 29,567 personnel from the various citizen security forces. In addition to this institutional task force, there are 27,482 volunteers from organized society and a specialized technical contingent of 4,088 international rescuers from sister nations who cooperate continuously in impact zones.
