New balance sheet of the Amnesty Law reports 7,727 beneficiaries and more than 12,000 requests

The president of the Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, Jorge Arreaza, presented a new balance sheet of these regulations, in which he explained that to date, the number of people who have benefited from the application of this law has risen to 7,727.

“Of that number, 7,474 people were under precautionary measures, for which they were granted full freedom and the termination of the criminal case, while another 253 beneficiaries remained deprived of their liberty,” Arreaza said from the headquarters of the National Assembly.

He added that they have more than 12,000 requests received from people seeking to benefit from this law, which has exceeded the commission's estimate, however, he assured that they are still working to meet these requirements, including requests from Venezuelans abroad.

“We are also receiving requests made by people who live outside of Venezuela, who also have some process open before the courts and who, with their trusted lawyer in Enza , have made requests for amnesty before the appropriate courts, and we are following up on that process,” said Arreaza.
