Nicaragua is preparing for the holding of regional elections on the Caribbean coast, a democratic civic process that will ratify the political right of the Indigenous Peoples and Communities of this Central American country.

According to the most recent bulletin of the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE), this vote will take place in the month of March in the context of their general rights as Nicaraguan citizens, and with their organizational, cultural, social and economic peculiarities.

In accordance with regulation 331, electoral law, during these elections, 90 representatives from 30 constituencies will be elected; three councilors for each constituency, so the CSE specified that each regional council will be made up of 45 members, who will represent all the ethnic communities of the corresponding autonomous region and will be elected by universal, direct, free and secret vote.

For this event, some 500,000 people are invited to exercise their right to vote, who will be able to attend the 745 Vote Receiving Boards located in 310 voting centers.
