The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela consolidated its position in fifth place in the world for avian biodiversity during October Big Day 2026, with the registration of more than 1,400 bird species (51 of them endemic).

With a massive participation of expert observers, institutions and nature lovers, the day took place in states such as Táchira, Mérida, Trujillo, Aragua, Apure, Barinas, Bolívar, Carabobo, Cojedes, Miranda, Monagas, La Guaira and the Capital District.

During the deployment in Caracas, species such as the Sorocuá Collarado, the Picón Flycatcher, the Warbler, the Rufous-vented Chachalaca, the White-tipped Dove, the Lesser Violetear, the Rufous-shafted Woodstar, among others, were reported.

The sighting from the mountains of the Waraira Repano National Park was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Daniella Cabello, who highlighted the importance of promoting participatory science and sensitizing observers to the scientific value of these species and their relationship to environmental balance.

With these results, Venezuela reaffirms its place among the world's megadiverse countries and consolidates birdwatching as an activity with potential for sustainable development.
