Official balance sheet for July 18 places the number of deaths after the double earthquake at 5,119 people

The president of the National Assembly and the General Staff for the Creation of Transitional Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, offered this Saturday, July 18, a new official assessment of the impact of the double earthquake that shook the country last Wednesday, June 24.

He explained that currently the number of injured is 16,740 and that of people rescued is 6,462. A total of 128,324 families receive care throughout the territory. The spokesperson reported an increase in the occupancy of the 107 authorized temporary camps, which today house 21,470 people, while the number of homeless citizens stands at 17,907. The highest legislative authority reported that the number of fatalities is 5,119.

The official balance sheet keeps track of 856 buildings affected and 190 collapsed. The deployment of humanitarian aid reports 10,063 tons of food distributed and a cumulative of 29,565,652 liters of water delivered. The health sector registers 32,292 patients treated. The force base is comprised of 30,989 deployed personnel, 31,745 volunteers and 2,278 international rescuers.

Rodríguez concluded by pointing out that there have been a total of 1,350 replicates since the initial event.
