The recent meeting in Panama, between María Corina Machado and the Unitary Platform, has sparked a wave of criticism on social networks, where influencers and analysts have described this meeting as a “terrible alliance” and a pact of convenience.

Sectors of public opinion denounce that this union seeks to legitimize political figures who, after years of internal fights and accusations of corruption, are now united to try to regain political control, despite the profound rejection they generate among citizens.

The critiques focus on figures such as stealing resources and funds destined for the democratic cause. According to surveys cited by communicators in live broadcasts, López's level of acceptance barely reaches 7%, which shows the lack of popular support. Critics argue that these actors, far from assuming responsibility for the failure of previous efforts, are using Machado as a vehicle to evade accountability.

The phenomenon of this alliance has been severely questioned because it is contradictory: the same characters who for years publicly attacked each other and accused each other of stealing resources from Venezuela, are now converging on mutual support. This strategy has generated indignation among right-wing supporters, who denounce that “heroes of democracy” refuse to explain the origin of the funds used to sustain their personal expenses abroad, while the country is still mired in crisis.

Longliners insist that this approach is simply a desperate attempt by traditional leaders to survive politically. The position of the critics is categorical: the country cannot accept the unification of those who, according to the allegations, have betrayed public trust. Immediate transparency is required about the destination of the diverted resources and an end to the manipulation of an opposition that, in the eyes of its detractors, has ceased to represent a real alternative for Venezuelans.
