The sectoral vice-president of Communication and Culture, Miguel Pérez Pirela, during the closing of the day of the National Popular Consultation 2026, stated that the day is a triumph of democracy.
Pérez Pirela congratulated the women on their day and noted that the day was held with wide participation. “The carometer indicates that it has been yet another day of the triumph of democracy, a democracy that has a woman's name,” she said.
He stressed that the process coincided with an unprecedented communication deployment.
“This is the first time that there has been a practically total union of the entire Venezuelan media around an electoral event,” he said, highlighting the articulation between the National Public Media System, Radiotom with 300 stations, private and alternative media and digital platforms.
He assured that the country starts the year with a clear route. “We respond with more democracy, with more peace and with more unity. This town is heading for bright horizons,” he said.
For his part, the president of Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Hernán Canorea, congratulated the country for the day and recognized the work of the channel's workers.
“The heroes of these years have been the VTV workers, who remain and sustain this communication effort,” he said.
He stressed that the consultation reaffirms participatory democracy. “Since 1999, committees have grown, transformed and today they are communes that vote, receive projects and execute budgets. Venezuelan democracy is wonderful,” he said.
Canorea highlighted the tranquility with which the day went by. “We congratulate the entire country for this profound demonstration of democracy, land control and construction of the country we want,” he said.
He invited the audience to keep an eye on the schedule. “Venezolana de Televisión brings new information proposals and we will continue to work hand in hand with communities.”
