The Port of La Guaira gradually began operations this week after the seismic movements that shook the coastal entity and caused its paralysis 28 days ago.
“The Port of La Guaira is gradually returning to operation in terms of cargo reception and departure,” said Rusvel Gutiérrez, president of the Chamber of Industrial and Customs Traders of the state of La Guaira.
He also confirmed that by August 15, the operations of the terminal and air customs at Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía International Airport will be activated to receive passengers and cargo.
He also added that they also have a report stating that about 40% of the commercial and business side was affected in the three main parishes that suffered the most serious damage from the earthquakes, including Caraballeda, Macuto and Catia La Mar.
The customs representative said that there should be a statement from the national, regional and municipal governments on possible tax exemptions in the region in the face of the challenges they face due to collapses and structural damage.
