The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, was decorated this Tuesday at the headquarters of the International Italian-Latin American Organization (IILA) in Rome, after holding a working meeting with the organization's Secretary General, Giorgio Silli.

During the meeting, the authorities discussed the review of development plans, multilateral cooperation mechanisms and cultural ties. As part of the event, the National President received a commemorative medal for the organization's 60th anniversary, a gesture of friendship, recognition and appreciation for the people of Venezuela.

Welcoming the organization, Silli told the Head of State that the IILA “is your home, it's your home here in Rome, it's your home in Italy and it's the home of all of Latin America.”

For her part, the President thanked her for the recognition and support received in the technical and scientific fields following the double earthquake recorded on June 24. He noted that the IILA “has provided us with this satellite image observation; the mobile seismological units they lent to Venezuela were also very useful.”

He also expressed the value of bilateral solidarity: “I wanted to thank them because it is said that in difficult times it is that friends meet. And I come here to ratify the Italy-Venezuela friendship.”

To conclude the official visit, the Head of State signed the protocol book for visitors to the institution.

This meeting reaffirms the solid alliance between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the IILA, an intergovernmental body founded in 1966 to strengthen cultural, scientific and socio-economic ties between Italy and the nations of the Latin American region.
