The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, maintains a telephone contact this Monday with the participants of the Meeting of Water Seeders and Seeders, which is being held in Caracas.

During the closing of the event, organized by the Ministry of People's Power for Ecosocialism, the president in charge announced that March 22 could be officially declared National Water Day, to deepen ecological awareness and ensure the preservation of the country's water resources in the face of the climate emergency.

“One of the strengths we can advance is precisely in planting water. This is the path; I believe that we are able to declare March 22 as National Water Day, because of its relevance and the need to preserve the basins and that we can mitigate, in some way, what the climate emergency has been and is for the peoples of the world,” he said during the call.

In this regard, he highlighted the need to preserve and provide ecological protection to basins, in order to somehow mitigate what the climate emergency has been for the peoples of the world, so he instructed to continue the formation of Water Basin Committees as fundamental spaces for education, training and research.

In this regard, Rodríguez stressed that these 151 hydrographic basins must become “the ideal space for the ecological awareness of our people to have a special impetus. In 2026 we are going to our ancient practices, of planting water, we are going to protect it, we are going to manage it well”.
