The president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, approved the proposal presented by Gregory Vargas, captain of the Marinos de Anzoátegui team, to extend the duration of the Professional Basketball League (SPB).
The announcement was made at the event held at the Miraflores Palace, where it welcomed the members of the men's and women's basketball teams, who became champions in their recent competitions.
He explained that the above-mentioned proposal proposes that instead of three months, the season should move to six months of competition, in order to provide players with greater opportunities for preparation, training and play, thus strengthening the development of national basketball and sports performance in the country.
On the other hand, he affirmed that the Bolivarian Government will guarantee all the necessary equipment so that the country's sports teams have the right conditions to carry out their activities, training and competitive commitments.
He argued that sport constitutes a school of values that teaches how to compete without destroying the opponent, promoting friendship, companionship and recognition of the other.
He said that through sports, love for Venezuela, the national tricolor and commitment to the values that unite the nation are strengthened.
“Sport is the path to peace, tranquility and personal improvement,” he said.
