This Monday, June 22, the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, received with honors the members of the men's and women's basketball teams, who became champions in their recent competitions.

At an event held at the Miraflores Palace, the president in charge highlighted the efforts of the athletes to achieve optimal performance and achieve victory, since in sports “the objective is to beat the opponent, not destroy him”.

He emphasized that the effort, discipline and teamwork that allowed the Venezuelan women's basketball team to reach an unprecedented milestone by sealing their ticket to the FIBA U-19 World Cup China 2027.

The Venezuelan players achieved the historic feat after beating host Mexico with a score of 80-69 in the quarterfinals of the AmeriCup U-18, held in Irapuato.

He also recognized the historic feat of Marinos de Anzoátegui, who after winning the final series, with a strong score of 82-66, against Guaiquerís de Margarita, managed to raise his twelfth trophy, thus consolidating itself as the most successful franchise in the history of Venezuelan professional basketball.

The president in charge was accompanied by the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, and the Minister of Popular Power for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro, among other authorities.
