The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, ended her visit to the island of Barbados by stating that “the economic and commercial union between Barbados and Venezuela is being born ”.
In his official statement, at the end of the visit, he stated that he agreed, with the island's prime minister, to work on food”, that Barbados will go to Venezuela to produce and at the same time turn the island into a receiver where we can import food”.
He noted that “I invited the Prime Minister to learn about the experience of the communal economy in Venezuela so that she can see how organized communities can secure their own food.” He added that, “in that sense, we have agreed to review our production and export matrices to allow us to be complementary.”
The Jefa of State in charge stated that work must be done “so that we can acquire goods made in Barbados and vice versa without looking beyond our borders that are close and sister”.
